Jon Guidroz directs Terra Praxis’ flagship initiative to decarbonize the global coal fleet by 2050. He leads the Global REPOWER Consortium which is designing a scalable, rapid repowering system for supplying affordable, reliable, and emissions-free energy to billions of people. He supervises design sprints with our core partners at Bryden Wood, development of digital tools with Microsoft, strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders, and the integration of research and policy to advance this agenda. Jon also works with the ecosystem to launch pilot projects and develop the quickest route to full-scale, global repowering.
Jon started partnering with Terra Praxis as Microsoft’s Chief Strategy Officer for Energy, where he drove thought leadership to accelerate digital transformation across the energy sector. He established himself as a trusted advisor to Microsoft’s top energy partners by identifying and generating new business opportunities and developing competitive solution strategies that solved customers’ business challenges to deliver the next generation of energy.
Prior to Microsoft, Jon held leadership positions at Google, Amazon, and a utility-scale renewable energy developer. He served as Head of Energy Partnerships and Business Development at Google where he led vertical partner ecosystems for energy and marketing analytics. Jon authored and led Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) global strategy for providing cloud-based solutions and building partner ecosystems as Worldwide Head of Energy Industry Vertical.
Prior to joining the technology sector, Jon was Director of Development at Free Flow Power, a utility-scale renewable energy project development company that endeavored to commercialize in-stream hydrokinetics in close consultation with a broad set of stakeholders. He completed Harvard Business School’s Leadership and Change Management program, Rice University’s graduate certificate in Finance & Accounting, and earned a BA in International Relations from The George Washington University.
