Kirsty Gogan took part of the session: "Environmental Sustainability Panel: Delivering a Sustainable Clean Energy Transition"

Energy transition is generally taken to refer to the global energy sector's shift to cleaner, more sustainable energy sources. Nuclear power, hydro, wind and solar are some of these clean sources. While nuclear power can enhance the efficiency of intermittent renewables, both are needed to limit the impacts of climate change. Transitioning to a low-carbon energy sources can provide solutions to many global issues, including efforts against climate change, the achievement of sustainable development, and improvement of human well being by reducing air, water, and land pollution.

This session was chaired by Saralyn Thomas, Chair, Nuclear Institute Young Generation Network.

Speakers included:

Emilia Janisz, Director of Strategy, European Nuclear Society

Rauli Partanen, Chief Executive Officer, Think Atom

Shekhar Sumit, Head of Energy Transition, Sizewell C, EDF Energy
